• 가산명사와 불가산명사:

  가산명사(Countable) I eat a banana every day. I like bananas.	불가산명사(Uncountable) I eat rice every day. I like rice.
  banana 는 가산명사입니다.	rice 는 불가산명사입니다.
  가산명사는 단수형(banana)과 복수형(bananas)이 있습니다.	불가산명사는 오직 한가지 형태(rice)만 있습니다.
  가산명사는 셀 수 있는 것들이므로 one banana, two bananas 라고 할 수 있습니다.	불가산명사는 셀 수 없는 것들이므로 one rice, two rices 라고 할 수 없습니다.
  가산명사의 예: Kate was singing a song. There’s a nice beach near here. Do you have a $10 bill? It wasn’t your fault. It was an accident. There are no batteries in the radio. We don’t have enough cups.	불가산명사의 예: Kate was listening to (some) music. There’s sand in my shoes. Do you have any money? It wasn’t your fault. It was bad luck. There is no electricity in this house. We don’t have enough water.

• 부정관사(a/an)를 단수형 가산명사에 사용합니다.	부정관사(a/an)를 불가산명사에 사용할 수 없습니다. a sand, a music, a rice 라고 할 수 없습니다. 셀 수 있는 단위를 사용해서 a . . . of 의 표현으로 나타냅니다.
  a beach   a student   an umbrella	a bowl of / a pound of / a grain of rice
  단수형 가산명사는 관사/소유격(a/the/my, etc.)의 수식 없이 단독으로 사용할 수 없습니다.	불가산명사는 관사/소유격/수량형용사(the/my/some, etc.)의 수식 없이 단독으로 사용할 수 있습니다.
  I want a banana. (not I want banana) There’s been an accident. (not There’s been accident)	I eat rice every day. There’s blood on your shirts. Can you hear music?
  복수형 가산명사는 단독으로 사용할 수 있습니다. I like bananas. (= bananas in general)¹ Accidents can be prevented.

  수량 형용사

• some 과 any 를 복수형 가산명사에 사용합니다. We sang some songs. Did you buy any apples?	some 과 any 를 불가산명사에 사용합니다. We listened to some music. Did you buy any apple juice?
  many 와 few 를 복수형 가산명사에 사용합니다. We didn’t take many pictures. I have a few things to do.	much 와 little 를 불가산명사에 사용합니다. We didn’t do much shopping. I have a little work to do.
